Northern Business Star Awards 2016
After a successful inaugural year in 2015 the Sage Northern Business Star Awards are returning to the region, bigger and better than ever for 2016…
Hopeful nominees and local press are invited to the launch of the Sage Northern Business Star Awards 2016 on the 24th of February 2016 at the Business and Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC) at Newcastle Library.
Guests will be joined by last year’s winners, representatives from this years’ award sponsors and “Forbes 30 Under 30” entrepreneur Jules Quinn, Founder of The *Teashed and Popaball who will be speaking exclusively at the event. The launch event, which runs from 4pm-5pm (with networking from 5pm) is an opportunity to speak directly to the local business services involved in the Sage Northern Business Star Awards 2016 and meet last year’s winners to find out how winning an award could be the catalyst that leads to business growth and future success.
Working directly with start-ups and young entrepreneurs on a daily basis, the Sage Northern Business Star Awards (NBSAs) was an idea conceived by local enterprise agencies TEDCO Business Support, PNE Enterprise, The Princes Trust and Newcastle’s BIPC Centre as a way of going that extra mile for their clients and showcasing the diverse and talented range of businesses we have here in the North East. Sage UK have signed on to be headline sponsors of the Northern Business Star Awards for a second year, bringing with them exclusive discounts for shortlisted candidates and the opportunity for shortlisted candidates to network with some of the biggest names in business at the launch event in February and Awards ceremony on the 14th April 2016.
From concept to completion, the organisers of the Sage Northern Business Star Awards had just three weeks to plan and execute the original event in 2015 and immediately recognised there was an opportunity to build on the achievements of last year. Using funding from sponsorship, the organisers decided to reach out to local businesses, hiring website developer Mitchweb and digital marketing consultancy Bumble & Bloom Media, winner of last year’s “Best Digital Business” award to support them with their PR, Marketing and Operations for 2016 and showcase this unique opportunity to a wider audience across the region.
The Sage Northern Business Star Awards cover six categories, ranging from Most Innovative Business and Best Employer, to Best Social Enterprise/Entrepreneur and a category dedicated to Overcoming Barriers within business. The will be two overall winners of the Sage Northern Business Star Award for one candidate under 30 years old and one candidate over the age of 30. A final award will be chosen by a panel of judges from the category winners and crowned the Sage Northern Business Star 2016. Businesses are invited to nominate themselves and nominations from others are also welcome. Nominees are encouraged to share their unique stories about their businesses and what their visions are for the future after being inspired by hearing the success stories from some of last year’s winners and Jules Quinn at the awards’ launch event on the 24th of February.
The awards are open to entrants aged 18+ who have been trading in the North East for three years or less. Deadlines for nominations close 18th March 2016 (any nominations submitted after this time will not be entered) with shortlisted candidates announced by the 31st March 2016.
