Lorraine Coulter: The Bubble Barn

The Bubble Barn  Bath, body and skincare retailer
After struggling to find a job which fit around the kid’s schedules, mum-of-two Lorraine Coulter decided to take matters into her own hands by opening her very own skincare and bath business.
The online store, aptly-named The Bubble Barn, offers an impressive selection of bath bombs, body creams, shower steamers, moisturisers and skin creams – all of which are completely organic. The products are cruelty-free, contain no SLS and parabens, and are gentle enough for those with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Although The Bubble Barn is celebrating its first year in business, Lorraine found it was initially a challenge to sell the products on her own and turned to PNE Enterprise for help. With support from PNE Enterprise, Lorraine identified her target market and was advised on how to complete a business plan.
Speaking of the support she’s received from PNE Enterprise, Lorraine said:
“I’d advise anyone with an idea for a start-up to make an appointment with PNE Enterprise. They’ve shown me nothing but support and encouragement from day one. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to turn my idea into a reality.”
Lorraine regularly promotes her products at local craft markets and fayres and even had the opportunity to showcase her products at the Great North Snowdogs – a charity event which saw 25,000 people attend during its opening weekend. Eventually, Lorraine hopes to move beyond the market stalls and open her very own The Bubble Barn shop.
“In the future, I’d love to open my very own shop where people can actually smell and touch the products before they buy. It’s definitely something that I’d like to pursue after my children start school.”
